RECYCLING takes on a trendy form at the upcoming Stylo, the fashion event leading to the 12th Malaysian F1 Grand Prix season. This year, the event themed 'Fashion to Art, Art to Fashion: The 7 Deadly Sins' is all about environment-conscious fashion and art featuring the works of more than 70 fashion designers and 100 artists. The artists, led by Philip Wong, and the National Art Gallery would be responsible for constructing 28 giant sculptures that will be placed in prominent spots in KL.  

It is only March, but the tie-up between Colony Capital, the private equity firm, and photographer Annie Leibovitz must be a candidate for an award for tidiest deal of the year. Ms Leibovitz had been struggling under her debts and was in danger of losing her three Greenwich Village townhouses, as well as the rights to her photographic archive, which included her celebrated images of a naked John Lennon and a nude, pregnant Demi Moore. We always love a good contest, especially when design house extraordinaire Paul Frank is involved. Art Attack is an original artwork challenge presented nationally by Paul Frank Industries that will occur throughout this year with a huge grand prize for one lucky enterprising artist. All types of artists are called to action in this unique, creative contest.  

McAllen artist Wilma Langhamer did not expect a winning bid as high as the one her painting sold for at the annual Carter Center Winter Weekend auction Feb. 27, at Port St. Lucie, Fla. She originally valued her painting "Messengers of Peace" at $2,500. But when she was told it sold for $12,500, she was in shock. "I was excited because we have an economical downturn at the moment, and I donated this painting without a lot of anticipation, so I was very happy and very surprised," Langhamer said.  

The exhibition examines the irrefutable: the first American modern artists learned much from Cezanne, 16 of whose paintings are on view. This is a long-established area of scholarship but the Montclair Art Museum, whose chief curator Gail Stavitsky organized the show, says this is the first museum exhibition on the subject. Liberation War and Language Movement are the main themes of the current exhibition featuring Proshanta Karmakar Buddha's artworks. Karmakar is mainly a printmaker (mainly etching). In recent times, he has developed his skills in painting (particularly acrylic).  

St. Francis College Professor of English Gregory F. Tague is pleased to announce the publication of his second book of 2010 and fourth scholarly book overall, Origins of English Dramatic Modernism, 1870 to 1914 (Academica Press), which focuses on the development of artistic, stylistic, and intellectual English dramas. Fusing art and music went so well the first two times it was done, the Finlandia University Art & Design students have decided to conduct their Fusion Fest again Saturday. Rhonda Jones, faculty advisor for Finlandia students, said the event, which will run from noon to 6 p.m. in the university's Jutila Center for Global Design and Business, will once again feature demonstrations of art and live music. People attending can take part in various activities, such as an art scavenger hunt, group painting, ti
